Love those red shoes.
Stephanie still smiling after a hard morning's work.

Congratulations to Courtney Wallace, Stephainie Murdock and Carla Murdock who graduated from Ferguslie pre Fives Centre this week. The girls are also members of the Crafty Sew 'n' Sew Juniors and when not hard at work at nursery, you can find them being creative at the Tannahill Centre along with their mums. As you will see form the photos above all three girls looked amazing on the day, as did all the nursery children.

Leavers Event Ferguslie Pre Five Centre

There were tears in many an eye as some of Ferguslie Pre Fives celebrated the end of their nursery days.  The children did a performance based on Julia Donaldson's book Monkey Puzzle and what a great show it was.  Dance and movement was performed to represent each of the animals in the book.  My favourite act was the frogs which had the kids bounce around the room on colourful space hoppers and the elephants were excellent too with the kids being as large as they could be and waving their trunks around.  A big credit to the choreographer.  It's really hard to adapt a story for wee ones to perform at their level and still make sense but this was done brilliantly and the kids seemes to love it.
Please see below a list of todays's leavers;

Callum Edmiston, Carly Bryan, Aimee Irons, Ross Fordham, Josh Gray, Robbie McGhie, Courtney McGregor, Stephen Cashley, Jack Suttie, Ian Lochery, Cerise Paterson, John Lawrie, Aimee McNab, Monica Monaghan, Callum Irvine, Katie Gray, Darren Sakala, AJ Kerr, Kyle Ronaldson, Teagan Leigh Parsons, Lewis Edwards, Cara Louise Kelly, Kaela McLeod,  Kayden Judge, Alesha Kerr, Charley Cowan, Karen Mamvuto, Samantha Oyiboke, Lauren Kane, Jack Johnston, Kyran Allan, Brooke Adam, James O'Donnell, Callum Irons, Oskar Walenciak, Louise Ronaldson,  Lucy Wilson, Caitlin Deveney, Parker McLeay, Leona Clark, Stephanie Murdock, Kayelisha Kerr, Molly Mahon, Kacey Heath, Sandra Martin, Courtney Wallace, Ryan McGowan, Willaim Quin, Thomas Wallace, Carla Murdoch.
Well done to you all and I hope that you have a wonderful time in primary one after the summer holidays.  Hopefully I will have some photos of the Crafty Sew 'n Sew Juniors in their graduation gear for you to enjoy tomorrow.
If you want to read Monkey Puzzle by Julia Donaldson for yourself then why not ask for it at the library.  If they don't have it in stock then they can request it for you.

DIY Tutorial - Spray Painted Boots

I bought these boots from New Look for £5 about 3 months ago. Basically I only bought them because they were so cheap for real suede and in my size. I wasn't too keen on the fringing or the colour but they are so comfy and easy to walk around in all day that I decided action must be taken to make them desirable.

You will need: lace or mesh fabric, fabric spray paint, something to cover your table (or take them outside), 15 minutes to complete project, 30 minutes drying time.

Firstly, I cut off the ghastly fringes. Fringes like these have there place but not in my wardrobe, not at this time.
ahhh better already!

Next I rummaged in my DIY supply cupboard and found a piece of old lace fabric and 2 tins of fabric spray paint, one in dark brown and one in gold. If I had a tin of black I would have used that but when I feel that DIY urge I have to do it NOW! so no time to go out and buy one. I have used fabric spray paint as it remains soft to the touch.  Montana Gold spray paint would do a better job.  It's not made to be used on fabric but still stays soft to the touch just the same but more intense colour.

I placed the lace over the first boot and sprayed the dark colour first. I sprayed back and fourth over the boot quite randomly as I wanted some bits of the design to be quite faded and some bits more defined. I repositioned the lace over the boot until all areas had some of a dark brown lace design on them. I then did the same with the gold paint. You don't have to be too fussy about placing the lace on the boot, a random effect looks best. The same technique was applied to the second boot.

Now all that's left to do is let the paint dry before wearing. This should only take about 30 minutes as the paint has been sprayed on so lightly.

And here we have it - a pair of lace effect boots in lovely muted colours.
I have since worn the boots in heavy rainfall on a few occasions and the paint is still perfectly intact.
This technique would also work on leather, synthetic or fabric shoes.

Ferguslie Park Jubilee 1977

The famous Ferguslie Park community spirit in full throw.  Do you recognise anyone in these photos?
What a great street party it looks.  Surely the guy with the long hair and brown flares must be still around.
